EDUCATION & WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT:
Provides leadership,
information and support to help meet the current and future employee needs of First Coast businesses.
 
 
Career Academies: 
Implement the Career Academy model and provide career-related business experiences (particularly with targeted industries) to high school students.
 
Success Measures:
*
Engage volunteer leadership in Career Academies through participation in leadership councils, mentoring, tutoring, curriculum assistance, etc.
* Recruit businesses to provide 150 students (minimum 130) with job shadow opportunities.
* Recruit businesses to provide 150 (minimum 130) students with internship (practicum) opportunities.
* Produce marketing materials in support of the program. 

Work Keys:
Serves as a regional business-education partnership that develops and
implements a workforce preparedness program to produce graduates with certified skills who can work as effective employees of local companies.
 
Success Measures: 

* Offer assessments and access to Keys2Work website to regional schools.
* Conduct training of testing coordinators and other key stakeholders.


Career Destinations:
Presents employment and educational opportunities to high school seniors and other individuals transitioning to the world of work.
 
Success Measures:
* Hold an event to offer a minimum of 40 businesses the opportunity to interact with students from across the First Coast region and recruit postsecondary institutions to provide attendees with educational information.
* Market event regionally to business, military and postsecondary educational intuitions through print, radio and TV ads and Chamber generated marketing materials.


SUCCESS Measures / School Partners:
Offers opportunities for members to become involved in meaningful opportunities with the Duval School district to improve student performance.
 
Success Measures:
* Develop a process whereby members can easily access volunteer opportunities.
* Acquire statistics/measurements of SUCCESS Measures and publish to the community at large and Chamber membership.

 
"UnCool to Miss School" Campaign:
Creates awareness of the first day of school through a direct marketing campaign targeted to employers, parents & children.

Success Measures:
* Implement marketing beginning in early August (two weeks prior to the first day of school).
* Report results to Chamber members and the community at-large upon completion (2-3 weeks after the first day of school).
